Is nothing happening?!

There doesn't seem to be anything news-worthy (what else would explain the lack of blogging?!) so I just found a cute picture and decided to put it up. This boy was a student at one of the elementary schools I helped teach English at for a couple of weeks in La Flor, Ometepe, Nicaragua.

Maybe he has a future in modeling...??

Three Cups of Tea

Greg Mortenson came to Bainbridge today and talked about his book, Three Cups of Tea. His story is incredible... if you haven't read it yet, you should!

1 penny can buy a child in Afghanistan a pencil. $20 will provide school supplies for a student for a year. $300 can give a scholarship for higher education. $600 can pay a teacher for a year. $50,000 can provide a school for the children of an entire village and 5 years of support.

Beanbag Maintenance

Who in their right mind would empty out their bean bag to replace those little foam balls?
They have so much static electricity that you can never get rid of them.

Of Gum and Art

Most tourists at the Pike Place Market go watch people throw fish, (who knows why) instead of checking out the gum wall. The city tried cleaning it off before, until they realized it was art.
In fact, look how closely it resembles this expensive oil painting in a fancy downtown office building lobby.

Wisdom Teeth!!

It's been a rough couple of days recovering from wisdom teeth extraction surgery...

Low points include moderate swelling, moderate to extreme ice burn (notice the cheeks), a completely numb face and mouth and four less teeth.

On the bright side, however, I've had the constant companionship of my eternally helpful and happy friends who never fail to bring liquid treats or monitor my icing schedule.

Team Meeting

OK Who posted the Playmobil photo and the No Effects Necessary posts? Why does it come up with MY name? (Ginger, formerly reporter) You need to get your own identity.
By the way, there is a way that each submitter can get their posts to come out in a unique style. So there is a little project for anyone interested in developing their own "look".

Household matters

1. We have some kitchenware that will be left here.

2. There was much helpful input on choosing the correct window seat cushion fabric. Those who are interested can go to this website to find the whole array of choices.

I can order 4 samples, at which point we will hold the final competition.
We were told in no uncertain terms that this syle is banned from the competition.
